Gather Your Components
- Power Supply: A DC power supply (typically 24V).
- Transmitter: A 4-20mA transmitter.
- Load Resistor: A resistor (typically 250 ohms).
- Multimeter: To measure the current.
Connect the Components
- Connect Power Supply: Connect the positive terminal of the power supply to the positive input of the transmitter.
- Connect Load Resistor: Connect the negative output of the transmitter to one end of the load resistor.
- Complete the Loop: Connect the other end of the load resistor back to the negative terminal of the power supply.
Measure the Current
- Set Up Multimeter: Set your multimeter to measure current (mA).
Adjust the Transmitter
- Calibrate Transmitter: Adjust the transmitter to ensure it outputs 4mA at the low end and 20mA at the high end of the measurement range.
Verify the Loop
- Check Readings: Verify that the current readings on the multimeter match the expected values (4mA to 20mA) based on the transmitter’s settings.
